Mystery Overbee Alumni Guests
These former students of mine, have been invited to come back, to share with the class their experiences in elementary, middle, high school, and even college in some cases, and let them know that what they're learning in school now is important, and does carry on to help them later on.
Mystery Guest #1-- Joel Schmidt Class of 2013
Joel has kept in touch with me since his 4th grade year. He graduated from high school in 2013, and I was privileged to be invited to his Eagle Scout Ceremony. He took a semester off at ECU to attend basic training for the army, which will help him pay for school. He's majoring in political science. The kids really enjoyed his visit, and I think they learned a lot!
Mystery Guest #2--Nathaniel Praught Class of 2018
Nathaniel is Sarah's brother, and Rebecca Townsley's son (our 5th grade teacher), so I've seen a lot of him over the years, and gotten to see him grow up. Nathaniel was in Heritage Middle's Honor Society, and received straight A's. He's a hard worker, and really likes to learn about wars. He shared lots of information with the class about some of the wars North Carolina has fought in, which ties in really well with our Social Studies unit right now. The kids asked lots of questions, and loved looking at the books he brought.
