For the objective RL 4.9- comparing themes, topics, and patterns of events, we are going to look at the different versions of Cinderella this week in class!  Below are some links to many versions you can read on your own as well.

Front Row Ed

Visit this site:  www.frontrowed.com
Once you get to the main screen, click on 'student login' in the upper right hand corner. Type your first and last name, as it appears on my cubby list, and then our class code:
7bmrth
Once in the main area, click on number and operations- fractions (the last button on top row).
It will ask you to complete a diagnostic test--be careful how you answer--it will assign activities based on what you know.

Landforms Paper Slide Videos

The class was divided into groups, and created a paper slide video to show the definition of weathering and erosion, and display how they work together to change the land.  They turned out great!

Class Book Opinion piece

In the computer lab today, you will begin typing your rough draft.  Please note the following instructions:
--Go to Microsoft Word (programs--microsoft office, and microsoft word is at the bottom)
--Once inside the program, start by pressing the 'tab' key, and typing your first sentence from the graphic organizer.  Check off each box as you type it into your paragraph.  We will add a title at the end.
--KEY NOTE:  you don't need to press the enter key, unless you're starting a new paragraph.  Word will move your sentences to the next line automatically.  :)
--Only one space is needed in between words.
--Our first task is to get the body of the work written.  Don't worry about spelling, font, or size until you type all of the sentences.  Don't change the color either-it will be printed in black.
--SAVE AS, after the first sentence-into your home directory.  Call it "opinion" and then be sure to just SAVE after every few sentences.
--ask your neighbor first if you have questions, and then if they can't answer them, raise your hand and wait patiently for me to help.

Valentine’s Day is approaching!  Our class will have a valentine exchange on Thursday February 12.  You are not required to participate, but if you would like to bring valentines in, please make sure you have one for each person in our class.  Listed below, is a copy of our class list for you to use.  If you would like to send in a treat or candy, that is fine as well!  We have 20 students total. Thanks!

100 Commonly Misspelled Words for Grades 4-5

This is a document I found online, that I feel shows which words 4th graders really struggle with, and also gives a few hints to the meaning in parentheses.  Don't worry about the "more information" part--it's from another school.  :)

Historical Fiction Padlet Pages

Blue/Yellow- Caddie Woodlawn
Green- Journey to America
Pink/Orange- Ahyoka
Assignment #1:  After reading Chapter 5, post a Facebook or Instagram message from one of the main characters in your book.  Use your first name when posting on the Padlet Wall.  You may use abbreviated language, hashtags, and phrases like LOL, C U L8R, etc. as long as it makes sense with the message you're posting.  Remember when people post status updates or messages, they are conveying their feelings to other people.  We should get a sense of who your character is, based on the post you make.
