Just for fun--share your favorite christmas movie, and why it's your favorite. Be sure it is rated G or PG, so it's school appropriate. :)
The original classic, "A Christmas Carol" was published in 1843 by Charles Dickens. This story has been adapted many times since then. We are learning about the classic text during read aloud, but I'd also like for you to share links to other versions in this blog.
Today we had a google hangout session with Mr. Wasko, Instructional Technology Facilitator for Wake County. The class asked a lot of good questions, and in the spirit of BYOD, we are going to record our responses digitally in this blog. Post questions and answers he gave you, summarize information you've learned, and include info that you believe will be important as we think of our PBL where you will be helping us come up with BYOD plan recommendations for our school.
Post websites that are helpful for work during your Surviving a Colony PBL. Please cut and paste the site in the "websites" box. You may add a comment if necessary. Happy Siting!
I've been reading several articles about the benefits of having flexible seating for students in the classroom. This would mean you could choose where to sit each day, and there would be more choices offered than just traditional desks and chairs.
I want to involve you in this planning, so it's the best working space for all of us specifically. Please answer these 3 questions. Label them 1, 2, 3 as you post your comment:
1) What type of seating choice do you think would suit you best? traditional desk/chair, seating on the floor at a table, sitting on the floor with a clipboard, sitting at a table on a stool, using a standing desk?
2) How often do you think kids should change their seating? Daily or Weekly?
3) What are some ideas of making the seating as fair as possible? How should we handle it when students want the spot another student has?
To make math relevant to your own life, let's brainstorm instances where we would need to use really large numbers in real life. We are learning about powers of 10, exponents, and how multiplying by a power of 10 can change the value of a number.
Post any interesting websites here that you find. Type your name, and then copy and paste the link to the site you found in the "website" box.
Read the article from Newsela here, and post your reactions. Sign in with the login- overbees, and password- heritage, to view the full article.
What inferences do you make about how this new type of video game is going to change other new games that may come out? Remember your inference should be based on what you already know, and evidence from the text.
1) Please list things you'd like to improve on academically and behaviorally this year.
2) What are some small steps towards achieving those goals?
3) How can I help you achieve your goals?
In Lesson 5 we learned about a group of people who hiked to the summit on Mt. Everest. Several of you had really good questions about the air quality up there, and seemed interested in looking for more information about that type of climb. Feel free to conduct additional research and post your findings here in this blog.
I saw an article on CNN.com that shows many of our bills will be receiving a face lift- literally! We did a little research in class, but let's continue the conversation here with posting the websites you found, what you wanted to share in class, and your reactions about this topic.
